Make your own comparison of natural gas rates to electric rates.

1.Look at your gas bill.  Divide the number listed in the GAS USED (CCF) column by the dollar figure in the charge for gas service column. This is an average price for gas per therm.

2.Now look at your electric bill. Subtract the sales tax from the bill and divide this number by the usage (kWh). This number is an average cost per kilowatt.

3.Find the value in the above Energy Guide that best corresponds with your calculated rate.

Natural Gas

1 Them = 100,000 Btu
= 0.1 MCF
1MCF = 1,000,000 Btu
= 1,000 cubic feet

Propane

1 gallon =91,600 Btu
10.917 gallons =1,000,000 Btu
= 1 MCF Natural Gas

Electricity

1 kWh = 3,412 Btu
= 3.412 cu. ft. Natural Gas
